iTunes 5.0

Contemplative
As anyone that uses iTunes is aware, 5.0 is now out. As anyone that uses iTunes on a Windows machine is probably aware, the installer sucks large quantities of ass.

Large quantities.

Thankfully I didn't have some of the major issues that other people are having. I only had to install it three times. And yes that is two times too many. But it finally worked. (P.S. try downloading from the quicktime download page instead of the iTunes download page, it seems to be a different version). Then I opened up the program and.... nothing. No music, no library, nada.

I checked in preferences, yep it was still pointing to the correct file, it just didn't actually see any music. Stupid program. So I had to "Add file to Library", despite the file already being the library.

I lost all my rating information, all my played information. All my Metadata!

Not overly impressed, although it has given me the impetus to go through and cull some of my music - four stars good, two stars baa-aaa-aad.

I've constantly hoped for better metadata capacity in mp3 players but iTunes has yet to really impress me: I think I need to command a team and write my own, especially with those kinds of problems you're describing... :P

I'm sure it works perfectly well on OSX. At least my brother hasn't had any complaints about the install on his powerbook.

It just falls down on the Windows port.
